Description:

ABOUT THE HER HELMET THURSDAYS PROJECT:
Businesses and organizations participating in HER Helmet Thursdays help HER / Mother Earth by providing discounts on Thursdays for people who bike. A long-term project with no scheduled end-date, HER Helmet Thursdays was launched in 2009 in Monterey County, California as a public service. NOTE: When participating businesses and organizations sign up, they are provided a staff reference sheet. Many have frequent staff changes. Just in case a staff person on duty isn't familiar with this long-term project, it may be helpful to have the listing for that location pulled up on your mobile phone screen (or print a copy of their listing to take along), so you're prepared to kindly show their listing.
Before claiming discount, refer to FAQs and project details, including date restrictions, in "LISTINGS, Map, How to Get the Discounts, and FAQs about HER Helmet Thursdays" at http://www.bikemonterey.org.

ABOUT THIS PARTICIPANT:
San Ardo Cafe was one of the very first charter participants in the HER Helmet Thursdays Project (they joined the project February 13, 2010). Although the cafe has since had an ownership change, happily, the new owners are participating too.

Casual, relaxed atmosphere. Mexican and American food.

As of November 7, 2017, their Facebook page states: "San Ardo Café is open 8 am till 8 pm, serving Mexican and American food, improving daily to satisfy your needs. Now with TV screens to watch your sports."

Bike Tips:

Directions tips: Coming from King City, take the feeder road on the west side of Highway 101 to Wildhorse Cafe (about a mile); then head under the freeway east and follow Wildhorse Road, which turns into Freeman Flat Rd. Take a right when the road hits Hwy 198 and head back west for a mile. Then, turn left on Cattlemen Road. A few miles down you will come to the little town of San Ardo. You'll see the cafe on the left, at the corner of Cattlemen and Railroad. The roads typically have very little traffic.
