ABOUT THE HER HELMET THURSDAYS PROJECT:
Businesses and organizations participating in HER Helmet Thursdays help HER / Mother Earth by providing discounts on Thursdays for people who bike. A long-term project with no scheduled end-date, HER Helmet Thursdays was launched in 2009 in Monterey County, California as a public service. NOTE: When participating businesses and organizations sign up, they are provided a staff reference sheet. Many have frequent staff changes. Just in case a staff person on duty isn't familiar with this long-term project, it may be helpful to have the listing for that location pulled up on your mobile phone screen (or print a copy of their listing to take along), so you're prepared to kindly show their listing.
Before claiming discount, refer to FAQs and project details, including date restrictions, in "LISTINGS, Map, How to Get the Discounts, and FAQs about HER Helmet Thursdays" at http://www.bikemonterey.org.

ABOUT THIS PARTICIPANT:
Tasty, reasonably priced Mexican food served in a friendly, caring manner make this casual taco spot very popular. Many folks take their food to go, and there's also a little table alongside this "food truck"-style taco spot.

Many people flock to G's for their meat-based dishes, such as the popular alambre. But vegetarians are served just as happily here too! If you ask for a vegetarian item, you're not limited to just a plain bean burrito, etc.; you can request a taco with vegetables and be served up a soft tortilla that's chock-full of colorful, yummy veggies.

Bike Tips:

If you're coming from the south, taking Hwy 1 north of Castroville and Moss Landing, note these helpful tips from the Velo Club Monterey Answer Man: After biking Hwy 1 to Jensen Rd, make a left on Jensen Rd; then "right on Bluff Rd, right on Trafton Rd, left on Salinas Rd."

Once on Salinas Road, continue to the business district area and watch for little G's Tacos on a corner (adjacent to G's Market) on your left (west side of Salinas Road).

Note that Salinas Road and Porter Drive are typically heavily traveled by motor vehicles. That means, of course,it is a route appropriate only for the most experienced cyclists. (This is not a route appropriate for young or inexperienced people to bike.)
