Description:

ABOUT THE HER HELMET THURSDAYS PROJECT:
Businesses and organizations participating in HER Helmet Thursdays help HER / Mother Earth by providing discounts on Thursdays for people who bike. A long-term project with no scheduled end-date, HER Helmet Thursdays was launched in 2009 in Monterey County, California as a public service. NOTE: When participating businesses and organizations sign up, they are provided a staff reference sheet. Many have frequent staff changes. Just in case a staff person on duty isn't familiar with this long-term project, it may be helpful to have the listing for that location pulled up on your mobile phone screen (or print a copy of their listing to take along), so you're prepared to kindly show their listing.
Before claiming discount, refer to FAQs and project details, including date restrictions, in "LISTINGS, Map, How to Get the Discounts, and FAQs about HER Helmet Thursdays" at http://www.bikemonterey.org.

ABOUT THIS PARTICIPANT:
The Hyatt Regency Monterey is in HER Helmet Thursdays, as of June 12, 2012. The hotel will have a special discount code that will allow cyclists to claim the HER Helmet Thursdays discount (on their Thursday night stay). Check with Hyatt Monterey Sales Dept - Attn: Dave Lambert for that code.

Bike Tips:

Hyatt Regency Monterey is a very convenient location for cyclists anxious to make use of the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail. The Sloat Avenue bike lanes near the Hyatt entrance run directly alongside the Naval Postgraduate School campus and lead directly to the Monterey Bay Coastal Trail, which is just across (and parallel to) Del Monte Avenue. It's only about a half-mile ride from the Hyatt to the Coastal Trail, and it's an easy, flat ride at that!

Hyatt Regency Monterey is also handy for bicyclists who want to bike to any of the numerous special events at the Monterey County Fairgrounds. Exiting the Hyatt, make a right on Mark Thomas Drive (bike lanes here too) and continue past Santa Catalina School up to the traffic signal. There you are, at the fairgrounds! This ride is easy too--mostly flat, with only a very moderate hill.
