Description:

ABOUT THE HER HELMET THURSDAYS PROJECT:
Businesses and organizations participating in HER Helmet Thursdays help HER / Mother Earth by providing discounts on Thursdays for people who bike. A long-term project with no scheduled end-date, HER Helmet Thursdays was launched in 2009 in Monterey County, California as a public service. NOTE: When participating businesses and organizations sign up, they are provided a staff reference sheet. Many have frequent staff changes. Just in case a staff person on duty isn't familiar with this long-term project, it may be helpful to have the listing for that location pulled up on your mobile phone screen (or print a copy of their listing to take along), so you're prepared to kindly show their listing.
Before claiming discount, refer to FAQs and project details, including date restrictions, in "LISTINGS, Map, How to Get the Discounts, and FAQs about HER Helmet Thursdays" at http://www.bikemonterey.org.

ABOUT THIS PARTICIPANT:
Looking for a great cup of java brewed only from 100% organically grown coffee beans? Here ya go!

Formerly Caffe Cardinale and Roasting Company, The Carmel Coffee Company is tucked away in an arcade off the south side of Ocean Avenue
between San Carlos & Dolores. A welcome discovery for coffee-lovers, Carmel Coffee has outdoor and indoor tables.

Carmel Coffee has, of course, decaffeinated coffees and a variety of teas, too. And they serve breakfast foods, including quiche, scones, pastries and more; and lunch items, such as croissant sandwiches.

Bike Tips:

From the corner of Junipero and Ocean Avenue (alongside Devendorf Park, Carmel-by-the-Sea's main MST bus stop), bike downhill on Ocean a short distance until you reach San Carlos. Hop off your bike at the corner of San Carlos & Ocean and walk the remaining distance to Carmel Coffee, which is on the south side of Ocean Ave (that's your left side, if heading downhill). There, find a stationary object (e.g., parking sign) to lock up your bike, or walk it back to Carmel Coffee and tuck it out of the way alongside the coffeehouse.
